Rolling Along

I’m at work now.

Oh wow.

You know how, when you first start getting drunk, and you are just sitting there with friends at some table laughing and being silly and you don’t really know how drunk you are until you try to go to the bathroom?

And then, when you are in the bathroom, you kind of take a couple of steadying breaths and go, ””oh…whew….I’m feeling a little…tipsy” And you try to sober yourself a little by shaking your head and focusing?

Well going to work today has been sort of like that. I really didn’t know how hurt or concussed I was until I tried to do normal things.

Things like looking at Outlook appointments and checking voicemail require chess-like skillz. I opened a spreadsheet and closed it right up again because it gave me a eyeache.

And now I am sitting in front of my emails in a bit of a stupor and I can’t focus or concentrate on more than one sentence.

Facebook status updates is about all I can handle right now. One simple sentence at a time on a little roll thingie.

Good thing its free burrito at Chipotle day.

Welcome to the club. As a seasoned veteran (two concussions of which one I still can’t remember the day [completely out for 90 sec] ), we like to call what you are experiencing the “deer-eyed” effect. This is where normal life ceases make sense. I think I remember (and I say remember loosely here b/c I really don’t remember much these days) trying to read a newspaper and only really comprehending the fact that I was holding a newspaper (at least I think I was holding it). Even after I stopped being a sally and manned-up, I still can’t remember $h*t. So, anywhose, welcome, enjoy it, and good luck remembering anything for the rest of your life.

PS Sometimes not remembering stuff comes in real handy.

Hi dizzyred, Terry can’t be giving you advice. Its like the drunk driving drunk…noooooo. I just got me a gravatar and made a cheeeeese sandwich at 10:00! I love my staycation. Just let me know if you need me to come over and do some readin…I’m good at that.

I love the new site!!! Spreadsheets give me the quivers at any time of the day. I say keep it closed. Maybe you can convince Lillybelly to leave her staycation and come do your work:) Now that she has a groovy gravvatar thingie ma-bob.

I wished I could close down all the work stuff today and blame it on the concussion. The boss man started in with email at 6:00 this morning and called from Portland as soon as his plane landed pre-8 AM. That is just sick.

Now if I had wheels I would go check out Chipotle. The very thought makes me hungry.
