Your Boob is Bubbling

Rain on Rocky Hill Rd, originally uploaded by Sabine Dukes.

So far within the last few days Michael and I have:

  • learned how to dance Salsa Rueda
  • swam a gajillion laps in the pool
  • had a massage
  • got acupuncture
  • lifted weights
  • stretched
  • picked blackberries
  • listened to podcasts
  • watched Tropic Thunder
  • watched olympics
  • mailed out bella stuff
  • played the guitar
  • read books by a fire while eating kobe burgers
  • kicked the kitchen remodel back into gear
  • bubbled away hours in the hot tub

and all while operating on half the usual brain and energy levels.

How is all of this possible?

Well, neither one of us is riding.

Its utterly amazing how much of your life bike riding takes up. Not that I am complaining because my main goal in getting healthy is so that I can get on the bike again….but man….that bike can lead to such a myopic and unbalanced life.

Since I am one to look on the bright side, I am embracing this period of recovery as a time to undo some of that imbalance. Michael and I are having a blast being gym/spa rats and having weekends where we can sleep in and drive nowhere.

I am sure we will tire of it eventually. And I know I will be back on the bike soon….but racing? I dunno….

we’ll see.

~~~
I love watching these Olympics. I have like 7 different blogs about them that I wish I had time for. But for now… I love the Track and Field sprinter cam. Beautiful.
i found the same thing when i wasn’t working. lots of time for everything else.
my garden looks especially nice.
so we either need to get rid of work, or rid of riding bikes to have all that nice time.
are u listening to “this american life” podcasts? those are my favs.
Wow, I wished I had that much time. I keep thinking I should have a lot of time for other things, but at first I could not do much and now it takes me about three times as long as normal to do everything. Maybe I will find that extra time, soon. I could use it!
Hmmm that sounds nice. Me thinks it’s going to be time for a good, long recovery break for me too, soon. I’ll probably still be riding and racing next season, but I don’t think I will revolve my life around it. I’ve been missing out on social gatherings on weekends and hiking with my girlfriends who could care less about cycling.
Keep enjoying your time and do what you love!
probably the best title for a blog post ever.
Um, you peaked at my diary from 2 years ago! And guess what? i still don’t race. I ride infrequenetly, and have taken to like having a life again. Saturdays and sundays without planned rides… at first it felt guilty. Now it just feels normal. And sometimes, i surprise myself on a weekend day and i’ll actually … RIDE!
we need a chick with concussions support group and a 12 step program. I think i’m still on step 2. what can i say? I’m slow at everything.
