Industrial Age

The stacks are back.

I love the stacks. So much you can do with them.

Thanks to bcommeberenice for the texture.

Wow - what an amazing erm.... thing! I dread to think what it's doing to the atmosphere, or even what kind of bizarre triple-headed beasts are growing inside it but the processing is absolutely brilliant in depicting the hideous side of human industry. And that's not a sentence i say very often. -- http://philmccluskey.com/projects/flickrfox/ (?) This is an Amazing Shot! Please consider adding your photograph to the group Amazing Shots!! [?]

These stacks are actually pretty clean, as stacks go. I just made them look all menacing. They are the stacks to a natural gas power plant. But in this pic, I like pretending that they're something more ominous and the kind of place that Dark Man might live or something.

definitely ominous. These places have always scared the crap out of me.

did you leave early today to go take pics? I'm so jealous! Great contrast and I love that grain.

I did! I went to the slough. But the pic above is old. I just finally posted it because I am rationing out my stack of stack pictures. You were still racing when I left!

I actually like these stacks. When I look across the bay and see them, they seem 'friendly' to me. I see them as a halfway marker, more or less, from one end of the bay to the other. And, most of what comes out of them is steam. I like the black and white, especially with the industrial subject. Nice image.

Stark stacks! So foreboding. Excellent shot.

I agree, the grain created from your use of texture is really interesting in this shot. So imposing.

Wow, you really made this look very dreadful and gloomy. Not that the photo is, but the reality of the powerplant...it sticks out s a F@#$%^ sore thumb near our beautiful highway 1!
